Lectin from Cicer arietinum (chick pea)
lyophilized powder
| Synonym: | Cicer arietinum agglutinin |
| MDL number: | MFCD00163290 |
Description
| Analysis Note | Agglutination activity is expressed in μg/ml and is determined from serial dilutions of a 1 mg/ml solution using phosphate buffered saline, pH 6.8. This activity is the lowest concentration to agglutinate a 2% suspension of papain-treated human erythrocytes after 1 hr incubation at 25 °C. |
| Biochem/physiol Actions | Cicer arietinum agglutinin is not blood group specific but agglutinates human erythrocytes that have undergone treatment with papain. In addition, the lectin has an affinity for glycoproteins like fetuin and IgM. |
